Romanian seniors, outstanding performances at the European Championships in Croatia.

In the first two weeks of June, the Romanian +30 Seniors obtained remarkable results at important international tournaments.

Thus, at the European Championships (S1000) in Umag, Croatia, the men’s doubles trophy +50 was obtained by the pair Niculae Hari / Donescu Sorin Alexandru, from the position of series leaders no. 2, with a decisive victory, 6-1, 1-6, 10-7, against the main favorites of the competition, Sergey Korolev (RUS) / DimitriPoliakov (UKR).

In the same competition, in the mixed doubles event +55, the player Ovidiu Petrescu took the third place together with the Austrian Silvya Sneider, being defeated with 6-2, 6-3 of favorites no. 1, the Italians Elena Scola and Roberto Devalle.

Tante Fleancu and Mihail Velicu also occupied the third place in the M +60 doubles event, dramatically defeated, 7-6 (4, 6-7 (3), 11-9, by an Israeli double, Zeev Livne / Haim Ohn.

After the very good results of the European Championships, Sorin Donescu also stood out at the next S700 level tournament, held in the same location, where he took second place in the single +50. Serial head no. 2, Sorin Donescu lost in the big fight, 4-6, 5-7, the final played with Gonzalo Ambiado, from Chile, favorite 1 of this event, but he won the trophy in the M +50 double event, together with Oliver Radulescu, after managing three victories in all three matches played.
